Frequently asked about Compress Video

Quality vs size trade-off?
High preset (CRF 20): visually lossless, ~70% of source. Balanced (CRF 26): the default, ~40% of source, still 1080p-clean. Small (CRF 30): aggressive, ~20% of source, best for talking-head clips on social.
Why MP4 output?
H.264 in fragmented MP4 is the most-supported video format on the web — YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Vimeo all prefer it. For other formats (WebM, AV1) wait for the format selector in Wave 2.
Resolution / bitrate?
Output resolution matches the input. Bitrate is set by Constant Rate Factor (CRF) — variable per scene, lower = higher quality. AAC audio at 128 kbps (transparent on speech, near-transparent on music).
